What I love about Zombies is what it can represent. Zombies are more than just the living dead, I see them as a metaphor that represents a World wide crises. Whether it be a disease such as the recent "Bird Flu" scare or a Global infection such as the Economic Crises we're all going through. Zombies represent just that, a united epidemic that spreads when it's least expected and it's what we do during such a crises that changes and molds the World that we're now learning to live in.
Rick Grimes is the hero of "The Walking Dead". Because of his career background as a Sheriff, he instantly becomes the leader of a group of refugees whose only goal is to survive and wait until the Government takes control of their disastrous situation. Unfortunately, when one is confronted with death all around them, morals & ethics start to change and no one is safe, not even within the group.
I highly recommend visiting your local comic book store and picking up the first trade. It is money well spent and a perfect gift to any kid or zombie enthusiast around. However, if you're like me and money is a little tight but you're interested in reading it, go to Borders or Barnes & Noble and read it at their little coffee stand. I guarantee you that you'll want to buy it, but wait until you have your funds and purchase it at the comic book store. Little mom & pop shops need loving too.
